The Roolite product is
made from a kangaroo skin
of slightly lower substance
(thickness) than the full
weight Athletic product,
where the Roolite foam
technology provides an
additional 0.1 mm of
thickness on the flesh side.
However, due to the
immense strength of the
unique kangaroo fibre
structure, the strength
values are still well above
athletic upper physical test
standards from sports brands.
Typically the trouser tear strength is well above 35 N or 3.6 kg (test method
DIN 53329A) that is equivalent to 70 N or 7.1 kg by the Slot Tear (test method
SLP 7 or SATRA STM 466 ST). Tensile strength measured as “Force at
Break” (test method DIN 53328) is typically above 160 N or 16.3 kg.
Lastometer results show a burst strength of greater than 280 N or 28.6 kg,
with an extension of at least 9mm.
With regards to its water resistance, we test by two main methods, that being
the Kubelka method and also a simple Static Water Uptake. Typically after a
two hour submersion in water we see a water uptake value of 50-75%. Maeser or Bally Penetrometer testing can be completed if requested.
If the
leather does become wet, the special tanning process allows it to dry soft.
Furthermore, the tannage also features high sweat repellency, protecting the
leather from the detanning action from sweat, which would normally make
leathers become hard and cracky.
The Packer Leather Roolite product is finished to the same high
specifications as full substance Packer Leather Athletic leather, and boasts
performance values that are unsurpassed.
Customers who manufacture for major athletic footwear brands have
successfully used the Packer Leather Roolite product for a considerable time.
Other Packer Leather technologies such as DurateK, MicrobloK, Kool, Konstant and others can all be added to the Roolite product.
