| Packer Leather has a Technical
Team comprising of 12 staff, of various nationalities including
Australian, New Zealand, Dutch, English and Japanese. All are fully
trained from Leather Training Institutions from around the world,
including the Leather & Shoe Research Association of New Zealand
(LASRA) and the British School of Leather Technology (BSLT) in England.
All technical staff members possess significant industrial hands-on
expertise in all areas of leather manufacture. Furthermore, a
number of team members are either in the process of obtaining, or have already obtained,
further education qualifications, such as Management qualifications
(Certificates, Diplomas and MBA level) and Statistical Process Control qualifications.
The team is allowed “free-wheeling” time throughout
the working week, providing a culture to explore and develop our
own ideas. We view failures during projects simply as additional
incentives to succeed during developments, to ensure the leather
making operations are robust by the time they reach full-scale production.
This diverse background of cultures and approaches to leather technology
and processing provides a strong foundation for both novel leathers
and novel approaches to technical issues.
We utilise the technical expertise of global technicians from the
world’s most renowned chemical companies. In addition, we are
members of various test markets for a number of proprietary leather
chemical suppliers, and this keeps us apprised of new developments
before they are officially launched on the market.
We look to gain technology by thinking outside the box and reviewing
technologies from other industries. This way we can gain an added competitive
advantage from our leathers.
